I'm baaaaack! :-)

Hi, My name is Jodie and I am a VERY bad blogger!!! hehehe

I haven't updated my blog in such a long time, I do however have a VERY GOOD EXCUSE..lol. I have been devoting my time to my wonderful clients and the business side of bounce! Photography that was suffering terribly!
I'm really happy to share with you the belated news of my wonderful assistant Teneille. Technically she is in charge of the office management, but I think of her as my 'go to gal' (I hope that doesn't sound condescending) All I mean is that I lean on her for a lot of things and she is wonderful! Super efficient, and oh so good at knocking my procrastination on the head - every time - I cannot believe how much we have achieved during the past couple of months!!
I will (with her permission) share some images of Teneille a bit later. :-)

Today I would like to share with you just a few images of the truly beautiful Miss 'Z'. Mummy and Daddy were so generous letting me invade their home only a day or two after they returned from hospital. I truly cannot remember the last time I got 'clucky' (my kids are so far past being little babies) but this little beauty stirred my maternal strings!! WOW!! She was truly truly beautiful..I know I'm harping on, but I cannot tell you how gorgeous she was. She took my breath away, I found it so hard to photograph her ONLY because all I wanted to do was hold her. :-)
Thank you so much Mummy and Daddy for being my bounce babes, and sharing your beautiful baby girl with me.
Jodie xxxx

I AM A STRONG, MODERN, INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO LIVES WITH DEPRESSION.

I have lived with depression for many years now. This is an illness - not a choice.

I can happily say after such a long time, that my illness is managed well and does not play a big role in my life today. It is, however a part me that is real and needs to be recognised.
I have been completely incapacitated at times in the past where just waking up was hard, let alone struggling through the 'everyday'.

In 2004, 15 months and 3 days after the birth of my premmie daughter, I gave birth again. This time to my beautiful son. To say I fell apart would be a huge understatement! I suffered debilitating panic attacks. I couldn't close the blinds in my home or I would start to hyperventilate. I could only sleep with the lights on, and even then only in 15 - 20 min blocks before I would wake up panicking and run down the hallway pushing at the walls thinking they were closing in on me so severe was the panic and anxiety!
To state the obvious, I knew something was really wrong - this was way more than just the 'baby blues', and with the help of my mum I went immediately to my GP to get help....

Now, nearly 6 years on and LOTS of soul searching, I understand this is something I have lived with for over 20 years. I just wasn't diagnosed. I just thought my highs and terrible lows were normal, didn't everyone  feel this way?

The thing I struggled with the most was the shame.
How could I hold my head up high? How could I raise my children proudly when I have to take a pill every day just to be like a 'normal' person? What would people think if they knew the truth???

Over time I have come to terms and accepted that this is an illness and not something I can control. And even though it is a part of me, that is ALL it is - one of MANY parts of who I am, and I don't need to be ashamed of who I am.
I am proud of how far I have come. This has been a harrowing journey and the 'dark place' that I just couldn't get out of was such a scary and lonely place to be in.....

I am one of the fortunate ones, I have had to go through many different medications with my GP to finally get the balance back in my life but I followed his advice every time and I have had wonderful support from those around me - even if they didn't really understand what I was going through and I haven't been back to my 'dark place' for quite a while now.
I am no longer ashamed to talk about my experience with this illness and I have learnt a lot about myself through it. I also understand now, that even if something happens and I do slip back into the 'dark place' that I WILL come out of it... eventually..... because of the support around me.

The irony is that this illness has taught me to practice patience, to trust in myself and that even though it might feel like everything is pointless, that in time, it passes - ALL of 'it'.
I could go on and on about the consequences this has had on my life and explain in depth exactly what the 'dark place' is like for me, but I choose instead to focus on the positives I have.
That is not to say I have brushed aside all that I have been through, I just choose not to focus on it.

I can comfortably share my experience without any pain now, but I choose NOT to have it DEFINE  who I am. As I said earlier, this is only one of many parts of who I am.

If you think you or someone you know may be suffering in silence, I cannot urge strongly enough that you need to speak to a professional and if you don't find one that supports you the first time, keep trying until you do. There IS help out there.
The shame of living with a mental illness lessens everyday as society grows and learns to be more accepting. You do not have to suffer alone. You CAN regain yourself and your life - I know, because I did.

To those of you who take the time to read my entry to the end - I sincerely thank you.
To anyone who may feel confronted or offended, I am sorry that you feel this way, but this is something I needed to do to help me with my personal journey, and if just one person wakes up in the morning and has the courage to speak out, or go and get help.....Well this is the beauty of the world we live in.

Thank You
Jodie

ACOCP- A wonderful organisation I am VERY PROUD to be a part of.

Nearly two weeks ago, I was very honoured to meet a beautiful little baby girl. Little Miss 'M'.
I am a very proud member of the ACOCP - The Australian community of child photographers. (I will post a link so you can read all about this truly wonderful organisation.)
It was through this organisation that I had the true privilege of meeting the gorgeous Miss 'M' and her amazing parents.
To Chris and Laura, I thank you deeply for allowing me to capture some very special memories of your wonderful daughter. I sincerely hope they bring joy to you in the years to come. My thoughts will be with you for a long time.
Thank You
Jodie

Could these kids be any cuter???

This session was shot way back at the end of January.....It was raining on and off, but we managed to squeeze a shoot in there - just. We had to finish the shoot with OCF under cover, but it was oh so worth it.
Mum 'M' has been so understanding and patient waiting for her proofs...Probably because she has her own business and understands how things can get very busy at times. So I must say a HUGE thank you. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek and we will be catching up soon to look at all your images...You have so many awesome ones to choose from!
I also hope 'M' doesn't mind, but check out her website if you are in need of a Graphic Designer...You can find her at http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.shellgraphix.com.au%2F&h=63777cd309a515386978ba41fdc9c2b6

Now sit back and enjoy some wonderfully warm images of  a fun and loving family. :-)
Thanks Jodie

bounce! it BACK

Ok so here it is...bounce! it BACK.

I have been bursting to do this! I think gratitude is a very powerful force in a persons' life, and I regularly give thanks for all the good I have in my life. I have a gratitude diary I write thanks for all my blessings in....As part of this I think giving back is another way to give thanks, kind of like the pay it forward that people do. :-) So I am REALLY proud to announce bounce! it BACK that I will be sharing twice yearly!!

Our Final Goodbye.

This afternoon I'll pick up the kids and Mum, and we are heading down to the Cental Coast of NSW to say our final goodbye to one of the MOST AMAZING women I have ever known...My Grandma.

Grandma Clare (as my kids called her), was a woman of strength, had a wonderful humour and loved to laugh...She LOVED chocolate...hence my ridiculous sweet tooth! hahaha and she ALWAYS called 'a spade, a spade'..there was NO FLUFF with Grandma Clare and that's one of the many reasons why I loved her so.

My children were SO fortunate to know her for a short time in their lives and they always loved to ask me ..."Mum - Why does Grandma Clare have so many stripes?" (wrinkles) hahahaha

Grandma Clare is OUR angel in heaven watching over us now..and my children pray to her.
Her soul has already gone home...and on Friday her ashes will be laid to rest in the same plot as her husband who she loved till the day she passed on..

We miss you so much Grandma, but we know you are happy and peaceful now....Thanks for being OURS!

Feeling SO refreshed after a couple of days rest...... Photographer meet up yesterday.

Well it's LOVELY to be back on top of my health...it's been a sickly journey detoxing from 20 years of nicotine....but I am happy to say that I am still smoke free, I'm exercising at the gym AND I've lost 2.2kgs...Yay for me. hahahaha

Yesterday I met up with some photographer friends and we had fun shooting some lovely little munchkins...I LOVED pulling out the off camera flash as I LOVE this style even on the littlies...Anyway I thought I would show you some of the images from our play yesterday...I hope you enjoy them. :-)

Before I get to the images, just a quick reminder that I am taking bookings for the month of April and beyond, and running the 'bounce! with me' days till the end of March.

As always thanks for sharing my journey with me..and I look forward to sharing my next weight loss with you. hehehehehe
